A New Green Oasis Blooms in Lexington: Town Branch Park Milestone

The long-awaited day finally arrived – we broke ground at Town Branch Park! CARMAN is thrilled to be a part of this journey. As the local landscape architect partner, CARMAN’s role is to ensure that the design solution is uniquely Lexington.

The groundbreaking marked the start of a greener future, woven by teamwork and a shared vision. The 10-acre park will be a highly programmed green space adjacent to the Central Bank Center and Rupp Arena in downtown Lexington. With the collective efforts of our community, we're turning this space into a vibrant oasis that will connect us with nature and with each other.

Town Branch Park will be more than just a beautiful piece of greenery; it will be a hub of activity for the entire community. It's destined to become a trailhead for the downtown trail system, including connections to Town Branch and Legacy trails, making it a cornerstone for outdoor enthusiasts.

The park will boast a plethora of amenities designed to cater to the diverse interests of Lexington's residents and visitors. From a large stage and lawn for outdoor performances to children’s play areas, water features, and even a dog park, Town Branch Park aims to be an inclusive space - a park for the people.

One remarkable aspect of Town Branch Park's development is that it has been funded by over $39 million in private funds. This demonstrates the community's dedication to transforming Lexington's downtown space into something truly special. Moreover, the park will be funded, maintained, and programmed through private funding, ensuring its sustainability and continued growth.

Construction is expected to be completed and open to the public in 2025. This is not just the creation of a park; it's the forging of a community space where people can come together, enjoy nature, and celebrate the vibrant heart of Lexington.
